Gameday 57: Florida Panthers at Carolina Hurricanes

The Florida Panthers (37-15-4) will be shooting to match the NHL record (12) for most consecutive road wins, which is shared by the 2005-06 Detroit Red Wings and 2014-15 Minnesota Wild, when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes (33-17-5) tonight at PNC Arena in Raleigh. The last time the Cats fell on the road was when they were beaten 3-1 by the Calgary Flames on December 18. Florida has won six straight games overall, including Tuesday night’s 3-2 overtime decision over the Ottawa Senators. Anton Lundell extended his point streak to a season-high four games when he roofed the winner 1:35 into the extra session.

The Hurricanes are on a hot streak of their own, posting wins in eight of the last ten games. Carolina opened a three-game homestand on Monday by doubling up the lowly Chicago Blackhawks by a 6-3 count. January waiver claim Spencer Martin stopped 14 of 17 shots and six different players scored goals. Sebastian Aho, who lit the lamp and added an assist in the win over the Blackhawks, leads the Hurricanes in all major offensive categories with 20 goals, 39 assists and 59 points.
