The Florida Panthers will look to build on to Wednesday’s 3-0 win over the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Garden in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final. Matthew Tkachuk made his presence felt in the first period with a goal and a couple of hits and Sergei Bobrovsky battened down the hatches until Carter Verhaeghe collected Igor Shesterkin’s miscue and forced Alexis Lafrenière into an own goal with 3:34 remaining in regulation. Sam Bennett completed the scoring with a long-range empty-netter after taking a pass from Tkachuk. Bobrovsky posted his second career playoff shutout exactly one year after he blanked the Carolina Hurricanes. The Panthers killed off both of New York power-play opportunities while failing to score on three of their own.
