Gameday 77: Florida Panthers at Ottawa Senators

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta

The Florida Panthers (47-24-5) bring the 2024 Spring Implosion Tour to the Canadian Tire Centre where they will face the Ottawa Senators (33-37-4) in their next to last regular season road game. After losses in Toronto and Montreal to open the trek north, the reeling Cats are 2-7-1 in their last ten games. First period goals from Anton Lundell and Aleksander Barkov gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead after one, but they promptly melted down and allowed the Canadiens to run off four-straight goals before Sam Bennett tacked on a meaningless tally to complete the scoring in the 5-3 defeat.

The Senators aren’t going to the playoffs, but they are playing much better hockey as of late, winning a season-high, five-straight games before they were beaten 3-2 by the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Tuesday. They’ll be looking to post their first win over the vulnerable Cats this season after a 5-0 loss in November and 3-2 overtime defeat in February. He won’t reach 90 points like he did last season, however, the dangerous Tim Stutzle is still the team’s leading scorer with 70 points.
