Maple Leafs move into third place; Panthers remain three points out

Well, it was bound to happen. The Toronto Maple Leafs moved into third place in the Atlantic Division with a 6-5 overtime loss to the New York Islanders. The Maple Leafs are tied with the Boston Bruins with 58 points having played four less games.

The Panthers, off until Thursday, trail both clubs by a mere two points. The Leafs still have a game in hand on the Cats, while Florida has three games in hand on the reeling B’s.

Tonight, the Buds will burn that last game in hand when they host the Dallas Stars. Go Stars!!!

Last night’s results were even more positive on the wild card side of things. The Philadelphia Flyers were blanked 2-0 by the visiting St. Louis Blues.

The Cats trail the Flyers by three points and now have two games in hand.

In Monday night’s over game, The New jersey Devils edged the Buffalo Sabres by a 2-1 count. It didn’t really matter all that much who won this game, the good news here is that the game was decided in regulation. The Devils have tied the Cats with 56 points, but they have played two more games.
