Friday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

With Sam Reinhart inked to a new three-year deal, the Florida Panthers look ready to go for the 2021-22 season. The Cats still have somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.5 million in cap space depending on how one assembles a 23-man roster, so they can still add if Bill Zito deems it necessary. One more thing to be on the lookout for, a long-term extension for captain Aleksander Barkov.

There were some signings around the NHL on Thursday. Let’s take a look…

The Winnipeg Jets and Andrew Copp have agreed to a one-year contract worth $3.64 million, avoiding a scheduled arbitration hearing. Copp had a big season in 2020-21, recording career highs in goals (15), assists (24) and points (39). (Arctic Ice Hockey)

Winnipeg also signed defenseman Johnny Kovacevic to a one-year, two-way deal. Kovacevic suited up in 29 AHL games for the Manitoba Moose last season. (Illegal Curve)

The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed defenseman Guillaume Brisebois to a one-year, two-way contract. Brisebois appeared in one game for the Canucks and suited up for 14 AHL games last season. (The Province)
