Florida Panthers at the Worlds: A recap of day four action

The 2015 IIHF World Championship continued with four more games yesterday, with three involving members of the Florida Panthers.

Finland 5, Norway 0: Florida forward Jussi Jokinen scored a goal and an assist and teammate Aleksander Barkov added two helpers in Finland’s 5-0 blanking of Norway. The Cats duo combined to set up Esa Lindell‘s game-opening power-play tally at the 5:05 mark of the first period. Barkov drew the secondary helper on Jokinen’s third period goal which completed the scoring. Jokinen finished the game with 5 shots on goal and a +1 rating in 17:56 TOI. Barkov fired just a single shot on goal and finished with a +1 rating in 14:35 TOI. For more click here

Canada 6, Czech Republic 3: Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Tyler Toffoli each had a goal and an assist in Canada’s 6-3 drubbing of the Czechs. Panthers Aaron Ekblad and Jaromir Jagr each drew an assist in the game. Ekblad picked up the primary helper on Eberle’s game-opening goal. The rookie defenseman, who logged 8:24 of ice time, finished the game with no shots on goal, a -1 rating and took a holding call in the third period. Jagr drew the seconday assist on Martin Erat‘s goal late in the opening frame which cut Canada’s lead to 2-1. The 43-year-old forward logged 17:21 TOI and finished with 2 shots on goal an an even rating. For more click here

USA 4, Russia 2: The Americans got goals from four different players to post a 4-2 win over Russia. Dmitry Kulikov finished the game with an assist, no shots on goal and an even rating in 20:27 TOI. Kulikov registered the primary assist on Sergei Plotnikov’s late third period goal which pulled Russia within a goal. For more click here
