Panthers’ Skille Lights The Lamp In Rosenborg Loss

Florida Panthers forward Jack Skille (pictured above in Panthers garb) scored on the power play, had five shots on goal and finished with a -1 rating as Rosenborg IHK Elite fell 4-1 to the Stavanger Oilers in Sunday action from Norway’s GET-ligaen. Skille picked up his fifth goal of the season during the third period to cut Stavanger’s lead to 3-1 but it wasn’t enough to rally the home side.

Martin Strandfeldt scored two goals late in the first period, staking Stavanger to a commanding 2-0 lead. Christian Dahl Andersen and Cleve Kinley collected assists on both of the goals.

In the second, Stavanger extended the lead to 3-0 as Dan Kissel scored an even strength goal at the 3:50 mark of the period.

Skille notched his fifth of the season with Rosenborg enjoying a two-man advantage midway through the third period. Deryk Engelland and Lou Dickenson got the helpers on the goal. Oilers goalie Ruben Smith would come up big to preserve the lead and Kissel would score again into an empty net to ice the game with nineteen seconds remaining on the clock.

Leading scorer Ian McDonald sat out again for Rosenborg who could not follow up their huge upset win over Valerenga with another victory. Despite the loss, Rosenborg IHK Elite remained in eighth place in the GET-ligaen standings.
