Florida Panthers make first roster cuts

The Florida Panthers have trimmed their training camp roster from 53 to 42 players a day after playing two preseason games in Nashville.

Forwards Jonathan Ang (Peterborough) and Aleksi Heponiemi (Swift Current) and defenseman Riley Stillman (Oshawa) have been returned to their junior clubs.

Forwards Francois Beauchemin, Matt Buckles, Blaine Byron and goaltender Evan Cowley have been released from their ATOs and will be attending the AHL Springfield Thunderbirds training camp.

Also heading to Springfield after being released from their PTOs will be forwards Anthony Greco and Ryan Horvat and defenseman Matt MacKenzie.
