Tonight’s game: Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Islanders 8 p.m. NBCSN (Series tied 1-1)

The Tampa Bay Lightning evened the series on Tuesday night with a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders. The Lightning got a huge boost from Nikita Kucheaterov who had three assists in a much needed win. New York should feel very optimistic coming away with a split series in two games on the road. Mathew Barzal once again was brilliant for the Islanders as he scored a goal for the second straight game and now has goals in five out of his last six games. Barzal is key to New York’s success in this series and with him on a hot streak and returning to their home ice, the Islanders have the edge in this one. They also were able to score on the power play in the first period with a goal from Brock Nelson which is a huge key in beating the Lightning who have a great special teams unit. The Islanders also were able to limit the Lightning to just one power play goal on five chances.

New York is 4-2 on their home ice this postseason and will be coming home to what is sure to be a thunderous crowd as they host their first third-round playoff game in almost 30 years. They will also be a little angrier in a pivotal Game 3 after the Lightning got away with seven skaters on the ice at the same time which led to them taking a 2-1 lead. (courtesy of Pickswise)
