Evgeny Kuznetsov took a pass from Alex Ovechkin and scored 5:27 into to overtime to give the visiting Washington Capitals a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Washington won the series against its arch-rival four games to two and earned a spot in the Eastern Conference final against Tampa Bay Lightning. Braden Holtby stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced.

Viktor Arvidsson and Filip Forsberg each had two goals and an assist and goaltender Pekka Rinne made 34 saves in the Nashville Predators season-saving 4-0 road win over the Winnipeg Jets. The series will shift back to Nashville for Game 7 on Thursday night. The winner will draw the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference final.
