Florida Panthers Prospects Update (2/5/2020)

The Springfield Thunderbirds are currently tied for fourth place in the AHL’s Atlantic Division with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, but sit outside of the playoff picture because they have played one more game than Pittsburgh’s farm club.

One of the Florida Panthers top prospects, Owen Tippett leads the club in all major offensive categories with 19 goals, 21 assists and 40 points. Tippett is also tied with Jonathan Ang in plus/minus (+12) and is second on team in shots goal (124), which is two behind leader Aleksi Saarela.

Due to Chris Driedger’s injury and Sam Montembeault’s recall, Ryan Bednard has gotten three AHL starts and won them all. Bednard has compiled a 1.00 GAA and .970 save percentage with one shutout.

Spencer Knight made 30 stops to blank UMass on February 1. It was the 18-year-old goalie’s fifth shutout of the season for Boston College. Knight was named Hockey East’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Patrick Bajkov is second in scoring on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) with 36 points while playing in all 49 of the team’s games.  He leads the team in goals (19) and power-play goals (6).
