Weekend Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Offseason Open Forum

The Vancouver Canucks signed forward Thomas Vanek to a one-year deal worth $2 million. Vanek scored two goals and added eight assists in 20 games for the Florida Panthers after the Cats acquired him from the Detroit Red Wings on March 1, for Dylan McIlrath and a conditional third-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Center Alexander Wennberg signed a six-year, $29.4 million contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Wennberg, a restricted free agent, posted 13 goals, 46 assists and 59 points, all career-highs, for the Blue Jackets last season.
