Saturday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

With two to go on its current five-game road trip, the Florida Panthers get another day off from game action before facing the Vegas Golden Knights for the first time.

Coached by former Florida head man Gerard Gallant, and buoyed by the talents of Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith, the 20-10-2 Golden Knights are the feel good story of the 2017-18 season, seemingly destined to not only smash the Panthers expansion team-record of 83 points, but make the postseason.

So, a lot of intrigue tomorrow night between a team that’s second in the Pacific and one who is struggling to build any type of consistency.

The Springfield Thunderbirds beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 5-4 last night on home ice. Blaine Byron, Juho Lammikko, Ryan Horvat, Anthony Greco and Curtis Valk lit the lamp, and Samuel Montembeault made 29 saves to get his fifth win. Lammikko and Ludwig Bystrom each had two assists.
