Saturday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Florida Panthers prospect Eetu Luostarinen scored a goal and added an assist in KalPa’s 4-1 win over Jukurit in Friday action from Finland’s Liiga. Luostarinen is tied for the club lead in scoring with nine points (3G/6A) in seven games. The Panthers acquired the 22-year-old from the Carolina Hurricanes on February 24.

Florida’s first round draft pick in 2020, Anton Lundell was held scoreless in HIFK’s 4-1 loss to HPK. Lundell finished the game with a -1 rating as he was on the ice for HPK’s clinching empty-net goal with two seconds remaining. Henrik Borgstrom did not play in the game as he continues to rehab his ankle.

Aleksi Saarela did not figure in the scoring in Lukko’s 2-1 win over Kapat. Former Cats Sebastian Repo and Jussi Jokinen each had an assist in the game.

NHL Signings

One-time Florida goalie Michael Hutchinson returned to the Toronto Maple Leads, signing a two-year, two-way contract with the team. Hutchinson appeared in 15 games with the Leafs in 2019-20 before he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche. (Pension Plan Puppets)

Toronto also signed right wing Joey Anderson to a three-year, two-way deal. The 22-year-old appeared in 18 games with the New Jersey Devils last season, producing 4 goals and 2 assists. (Pension Plan Puppets)

The Vancouver Canucks re-signed defenseman Guillaume Brisebois to a one-year, two-way contract. Brisebois played in 48 games last season with the Vancouver’s AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets. (The Province)

The Colorado Avalanche signed defenseman Kyle Burroughs to a one-year, two-way deal. Burroughs, 25, has spent most of the last five seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. (The Denver Post)

The Dallas Stars re-signed defenseman Julius Honka to a one-year, two-way contract. Honka spent the 2019-20 season in Finland playing for Liiga’s JYP. (Defending Big D)
