NHL Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Thursday Open Forum

The New York Islanders have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent Derick Brassard on a one-year contract worth $1.2 million. The 31-year-old forward played ten games with the Florida Panthers last season and put up a goal and three assists in his short time here after he was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 1. His only goal with the Cats came a week later in a 5-4 overtime win over the Washington Capitals.

Brassard produced 14 goals and nine assists in 70 total games last season while with the three teams mentioned above. He also had an assist in nine playoff games with the Avalanche.
