Tuesday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers get another day off before test two of the five-game road trip against the Pacific Division-leading San Jose Sharks.

The two teams met back in November with the Sharks posting a 4-2 win over the Cats at the BB&T Center. Defenseman Jason Demers scored both goals for the Panthers.

As for the playoff chase, Florida (58 points) is currently six points behind both second place Ottawa and third place Boston in the Atlantic Division. The Panthers have four games in hand on the Bruins and have played one more game than the Senators.

Toronto holds down the second wild card with 61 points. Philadelphia also has 61, but has played two more games than the Maple Leafs and Cats.

The Panthers erupted for a season-high seven goals in Nashville and will need more strong performances like that as they make their way south through the Golden State.
