Tuesday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers and NHL Playoffs Open Forum

Another day with no NHL hockey as we gear up for the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, which start tomorrow night with Game 1’s in the St. Louis – Nashville and Anaheim – Edmonton series.

There is a smattering of Florida Panthers-related news to go over today.

In the OHL playoffs, Jonathan Ang and the Peterborough Petes fell 2-1 in double-overtime to the Mississauga Steelheads. Mississauga now leads the series three games to none. Ang did not collect a point, but did register three shots on goal, and finished the tilt with a -1 rating.

Evan Cowley’s season came to an end as the Brampton Beast eliminated the Reading Royals four games to two in the first round of the ECHL playoffs. Cowley did not play in the series after signing an ATO with Reading, but did back up Mark Dekanich in the final five games of the series. The goaltending prospect will become a UFA in August if the Panthers don’t ink him to a deal before then.

Don’t forget to enter round two of LBC’s picks contest if you haven’t already!
