Gameday 41: Florida Panthers vs Los Angeles Kings

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta

The Florida Panthers (10-4-1) are back in Sunrise were they will play host to the Los Angeles Kings (20-17-4) tonight at Amerant Bank Arena. Florida is coming off a perfect road trip, that saw them sweep past the Arizona Coyotes, Vegas Golden Knights and St. Louis Blue, outscoring the four Western Conference clubs by a combined 21-7 margin. Hometown boy Matthew Tkachuk delivered a natural hat trick in the third period and also set up Sam Reinhart’s second period power-play goal to lift the Panthers to a 5-1 win over the Blues.

The struggling Kings hit Broward County in the midst of six-game (0-3-3) losing streak. On Tuesday, visiting Los Angeles held a two-goal lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning after forty minutes, but couldn’t hold it and lost the game when Nick Perbix scored 2:03 into overtime. A win tonight would end both the Kings’ run of misery and Florida’s eight-game winning streak. Los Angeles won the first meeting by a 2-1 count in mid-November.
