ReCat: I Started A Joke(inen)

Florida earned their 40th win of the season in their 71st game, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Thursday night in Toronto, ON.

Jussi Jokinen (14, 15) tallied two unassisted second period markers, first opening the scoring then notching the eventual game-winner. Jaromir Jagr and Teddy Purcell each added empty netters late in the third to close the scoring. Leafs defender Morgan Rielly (8) lit the lamp in the second for the only Toronto goal, assisted by Nikita Soshnikov and Michael Grabner.

Brian Campbell, Nick Bjugstad, and Jiri Hudler all contributed helpers on the two late empty net goals, while Roberto Luongo earned his 30th win of the season, his 172nd as a Panther, and his 431st overall, now only six behind sixth-place all-time Jacques Plante. Eight of the top 10 are already in the Hall of Fame, except, for some reason, Curtis Joseph. Lu turned aside 32 shots for the win, while counterpart Jonathan Bernier made 28 shots in defeat.
