Wednesday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers get another night off today before facing the Boston Bruins for the first time this season at the BB&T Center on Thursday night.

New Jersey and Columbus, the clubs Florida is chasing in the wild card race, were both idle last night, so that Cats remain three points behind the Devils (with two games in hand) and four points behind the Blue Jackets (with three games in hand).

The Panthers will gain another game in hand on New Jersey tonight after the Devils play the Golden Knights in Las Vegas. Let’s hope Vegas can come through a win in regulation and help the Cats out, being that Florida’s was kind of generous to the Golden Knights back in June.

Down on the farm, the Springfield Thunderbirds have a busy weekend in front of them. The T-Birds will host Syracuse on Friday before hitting the road for games against Hershey and Lehigh Valley on Saturday and Sunday. Springfield (28-29-4-1) is currently in sixth place in the Atlantic Division and 12 points out of playoff spot.
