The Florida Panthers remain off until Thursday night’s game at Amerant Bank Arena against the Nashville Predators, who returned home from a three-game road trip to blast the San Jose Sharks 8-2 last night at Bridgestone Arena.

Florida is now three points behind Boston for first place in the Atlantic Division after the Bruins made easy work of the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden. The Panthers have two games in hand, so they can certainly make up the difference.

Thanks to Patrick Kane’s overtime goal, the Detroit Red Wings reclaimed the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Washington Capitals will try to take that slot back when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. Toronto lost 4-3 to the Philadelphia Flyers last night.
