Friday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Another day of what could be a long NHL offseason passed quietly with a smattering of new signings.

The New York Rangers avoided a scheduled arbitration hearing with forward Ryan Strome, signing him to a two-year contract worth $9 million. Strome set new career-highs with 41 assists and 59 points in 2019-20. (Blueshirt Banter)

The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed  RFA defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov to a three-year deal worth $8.4 million. Gavrikov appeared in 69 games and produced 18 points last season for the Blue Jackets. (The Cannon)

The Winnipeg Jets signed UFA forward Marko Dano to a one-year, two-way contact that pays $700K at the NHL level. The well-traveled Dano played parts of three season with Jets before he was claimed on waivers by the Colorado Avalanche on October 15, 2018. (Sportsnet)

The Anaheim Ducks signed 2020 first round draft pick (27th overall) Jacob Perreault to an entry-level contract. Perreault produced 39 goals and 70 points for the OHL’s Sarnia Sting

Florida Panthers forward Aleksi Saarela was held off the scoresheet in Finland’s 6-2 loss to Russia at the Karjala Cup. Russia brought its U20 team to the tournament and smoked the host Finns. In the other game, the Czech Republic beat Sweden by a 3-1 count.
