Gameday 40: Florida Panthers at St. Louis Blues

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta

The surging Florida Panthers (25-12-2) are in the Show Me State looking to earn a season-series split against the St. Louis Blues (20-17-1) and finish off a four-game road trip with a perfect record. Florida has already taken care of the Arizona Coyotes, Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche on the trek west. Sam Reinhart poured in three goals, Carter Verhaeghe scored twice, and Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk each collected four points on Saturday to hand the Avalanche its first loss at Ball Arena since early December.

The Blues have posted a 4-2 record since defeating the Panthers by a 4-2 count at Amerant Bank Arena on December 21. Brayden Schenn scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give St. Louis a 2-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in their last outing. Jordan Binnington has held the opposition to one goal in each of his last two starts so he’s likely to get the call tonight, although it was Joel Hofer who beat the Cats in Sunrise. Robert Thomas leads the club in scoring with 16 goals and 25 assists.
