Panthers re-sign center Greg McKegg to one-year deal

The Florida Panthers have re-signed center Greg McKegg to a one-year, two-way contract a day after not qualifying the then restricted free agent.

McKegg will make the same $700K at the NHL level that he made last season. He did get a raise on the AHL side of the deal, from $82.500 to $115K according to general fanager.

In 15 games with the Panthers last season, McKegg scored two goals. In 47 games with Portland, he posted 10 goals and 23 points.

Bringing back the 24-year-old was a good move by the Panthers. Chances are. with the Cats depth at center, he will start the season in Springfield, but he is a good insurance policy to have around in case of injury.

The Panthers acquired McKegg on June 19, 2015 for the rights to Zach Hyman and a conditional 2017 draft pick.
