Looking for Bradley/Barch Replacement, Panthers Sign George Parros

After losing Krys Barch to free agency and buying out Matt Bradley, the Florida Panthers have taken a step to add toughness by signing pugilist George Parros to a two year contract(925K/yr). Parros joins the team after playing 46 games with the Anaheim Ducks where he ‘amassed’ four points (1G/3A) and 85 penalty minutes. Alright, it’s not really about conventional stats, it’s about the fisticuffs. Over the last four regular season campaigns Parros has racked up 81 fights, the guy is nothing short of a league heavyweight and beloved fan favorite.

Along with the fights is Parros’ hitting, The ‘Stache had 57 last season(1.24/game) and 97 through 78 last season (also 1.24/game). While just having someone on the Panthers willing to hit game in game out is a great addition, here’s hoping that number can increase with Florida. Parros is widely known to be an intelligent player(he’ll probably blab for hours with Weaver about the future of computer technology, or something) and good lockerroom kind of guy. Last season Parros rounded out the Ducks’ roster in TOI/G with 6:22, but expect that number to swell in Florida.

More after the jump.

Yes, George Parros has a mustache and he isn’t afraid to use it. Remember this one?

If you can’t beat them, sign ’em to your side.
