Panthers sign Mason Marchment to a one-year contract extension

The Florida Panthers have signed forward Mason Marchment to a one-year contract extension beginning in the 2021-22 season.

General manager Bill Zito had this to say:

“Mason has taken full advantage of his opportunity this season and we are pleased to have signed him to a contract extension. In his first full NHL season, he has proven himself to be a versatile forward who provides our team with a combination of size, skill, and character. We are excited for Mason to take the next step in his career with our organization.”

The 25-year-old Marchment has appeared in 22 games with Florida this season, recording seven points (2G/5A). Over his 21 games with the Panthers, Marchment has registered a +6 rating, 44 hits, 10 takeaways and 36 shots on goal while averaging 14:04 TOI per game.

Undrafted, the 6-foot-4, 209-pound native of Uxbridge, Ontario has played in 24 career NHL games for Florida (2020-21) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (2019-20), producing a total of two goals and eight points.

Marchment has also played in 130 career American Hockey League games, amassing 72 points (38G/34A) and won the 2018 Calder Cup Championship with the Toronto Marlies.

The Panthers originally acquired Marchment through a trade with the Maple Leafs on February 19, 2020.
