Monday Caterwaul: Quick strikes push Lightning to 4-1 win over Islanders

Blake Coleman and Ondrej Palat scored 12 seconds apart in the second period to quickly erase a one-goal deficit as the Tampa Bay Lightning moved one step closer to the Stanley Cup Final with an impressive 4-1 win over the New York Islanders.

Coleman chased down Yanni Gourde’s long aerial pass and beat Semyon Varlamov just 15 seconds after Brock Nelson had given the Islanders a 1-0 lead.

Brayden Point scored 3:33 into the third period to put the Bolts up by two and Pat Maroon completed the scoring into an empty net with 2:24 remaining.

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 26 shots and drew an assist on Coleman’s goal. Gourde and Nikita Kucherov each finished the game with two assists. Palat and Point also picked up helpers to post multi-point games.
