Monday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Defenseman Alec Rauhauser was the only Florida Panthers player who saw action in Europe on a slow Sunday for hockey.

Rauhauser made his sixth appearance of the season for DVTK Polar Bears, a Hungarian-based club playing Slovakia’s Tipos Extraliga.

The 25-year-old, who was signed by the Cats on March 26, set up Tamas Reszegh’s game-opening goal in the Polar Bears 2-1 win over HK Dukla Michalovce.

Rauhauser now has two goals and three assists and +4 rating in his time with DVTK.

Aleksi Heponiemi and his Swedish club MODO Hockey were supposed to take on AIK in HockeyAllsvenskan, but a recent covid-19 outbreak on AIK forced the game to be postponed.

Heponiemi leads MODO in scoring with 12 points (4G/8A) in 14 games. The club is off until Wednesday when they face Vasby IK.

NHL signings

The St. Louis Blues re-signed defenseman Jake Walman to a two-year, two-way contact. Walman produced 27 points in 57 AHL games with the San Antonio Rampage and made his fist NHL appearance for the Blues.

The Ottawa Senators signed forward Egor Sokolov to an entry-level contract. Sokolov was selected in the second round (61st overall) of the 2020 Draft after he put up 46 goals and 92 points for Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL.
