NHL Postseason Caterwaul: Hurricanes play king slayer and advance to second round

Brock McGinn redirected Justin Williams’ goal mouth pass by Braden Holtby 11:05 into the second overtime as the Carolina Hurricanes rallied to eliminate the Washington Capitals with a 4-3 win in Game 7. It was the first road win in the series for either team. In addition to his game-winner, McGinn also had an assist and saved a goal for the Hurricanes, who twice trailed by two before storming back to dethrone the defending Stanley Cup champion.

Panthers prospects

Owen Tippett scored a goal and added an assist in the Saginaw’s Spirit’s 4-1 road win over the Guelph Storm. The Spirit took a 3-1 lead in the series. Tippett, who now has 22 points in the postseason, registered three shots on goal and finished with a +1 rating.

Serron Noel saw his season come to end as the Oshawa Generals fell 2-1 in overtime to the Ottawa 67s. Ottawa won the series four games to zero. Noel didn’t have a point or a shot in the game and collected 7 PIM. Noel finished the playoffs with 4 goals and 7 assists in 14 games.
