Friday Caterwaul: Panthers GameDay Open Forum

“A lot of teams nowadays, that seems like their best way to create offense. When they get the puck, it’s the transition offense. Some teams are good at dumping it in and getting it back. Some teams are both ways. Some teams thrive off the transition. At least based on tonight, [Florida] seemed to get their best chances off the rush.’’

– Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas via the Boston Globe

Why last night rocked:

  • Pittsburgh took a regulation loss courtesy of Philadelphia, 3-2

Why last night jonesed:

Sadly, everyone else went to extra frames

  • New Jersey over Ottawa, 5-4 (SO)
  • Tampa Bay over the Rangers, 3-2 (SO)
  • Vancouver over Montreal, 4-3 (SO); admittedly, this could have been worse
  • Chicago over the Isles, 3-2 (OT); Islanders gain a point but is anyone concerned at this stage?

Why tonight is a Big Deal:

  • Toronto at Washington, 7 p.m.
  • Carolina at Winnipeg, 8:30

Next up for the Cats:

  • Right back at it in mere hours from Buffalo; preview coming up, LBC Game Thread get underway at 7. More from Die By The Blade here.
