This week, the Rampage went on a three-game win streak, just one game under .500, Quinton Howden and Jonathan Huberdeau make the Canadian WJC roster, while Alexander Petrovic gets cut. And as you are likely aware, Howden is being treated for concussion-like symptoms after being hit in a scrimmage.
San Antonio 2, Peoria 1
The Rampage finally got some players back from Florida, and were finally able to play excellent hockey. Dov Grumet-Morris played another solid game, allowing one goal on 22 shots. After being out-shot 13-12 in the first period, the Rampage held the Riverman, AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, to nine shots for the rest of the game. David Marshall ended the Rampage scoreless streak at 131:44 with his fourth goal of the season to tie the game at 1. Next period, Rampage leading scorer Bracken Kearns scored his eight goal of the season on the powerplay to give the Rampage the win.
San Antonio 4, Charlotte 1
The San Antonio Rampage played their best game tonight, despite being out-shot 45-23. Jacob Markstrom played his best game in San Antonio, allowing just one goal, and saved 44 shots. As impressive as Markstrom was, the offense got the game started with a three goal first period. Tyson Strachan scored his first goal of the season to open up the game, with Greg Rallo, Scott Timmins, and Bracken Kearns scoring the other goals. The Rampage won back-to-back home games for the first time this season.
San Antonio 3, Rochester 2
The Panthers affiliates of past and present faced off, with the current Panthers affiliate winning in overtime. It was Mark Cullen, Angelo Esposito, and Tim Kennedy's first games since November, and the first meeting of the two teams since February 8th, 2009. Greg Rallo opened up the game with a goal in the first, which the Americans answered a minute later on the powerplay. The Americans managed to score two goals in the first, however one goal was called off as the Americans had a player come out of the penalty box too early. After the first period, the Rampage limited the Americans to only ten shots on the goal, three in the second period alone. Keith Seabrook scored his first goal of the season (first since March 4th) to give the Rampage the lead. However the Americans tied up the game in the final three minutes, where Bill Thomas scored the game winner two minutes into the extra period. Mark Cullen scored two points in his first game back since November 25th, and Jacob Markstrom allowed two goals on 21 shots. After the overtime victory, the Rampage are the only AHL team unbeaten in overtime.
