Panthers’ Skille: Two-Assist Night In Return To Action

Florida Panthers forward Jack Skille collected two assists during a 4-3 overtime win over Stjernen on Tuesday night as action resumed in Norway’s GET-ligaen. Skille fired four shots on goal, picked up a hooking minor in the second period and finished with a +2 rating while skating mostly on Rosenborg’s first line with Ilya Dubkov and Lou Dickenson.

Rosenborg jumped on Stjernen early with Skille and Dickenson combining to set up Dubkov at the forty-four second mark of the opening period. Göran Hermansson would tie things for the home side, striking on a power play at 8:56 with assists going to Aleksandrs Macijevskis and Marcus Persson. Rosenborg regained the lead twenty-five seconds later on an even strength goal from Vegard Spets.

In the second period, Skille fed high-scoring defenseman Ryan Martinelli for his third goal of the season to extend Rosenborg’s lead to 3-1. Rosenborg goalie Simon Nordh shined in the period, stopping all 14 shots he faced.

Stjernen would battle back to even the game early in the third period. Andreas Heier scored with the teams skating at five aside to cut the deficit to one and Tomas Sinisalo converted a power play chance just under two minutes later to knot the score at three.

The game went to overtime where Rosenborg quickly picked up the win as Ilya Dubkov tallied his second goal of the game on the first shot of the extra frame. Fredrik Ralm and Rasmus Juell got the helpers on the game-winner which was Dubkov’s seventh of the season.

Jack Skille now has ten points (5G/5A) in eight games with Rosenborg IHK Elite which remained in eighth place with the win.
