Pirates drop second in a row with 4-1 loss to Wolf Pack

After being shutout on Saturday, the Portland Pirates found little offense in the “Insurance Capital of the World”, getting beaten 4-1 by the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Hartford’s Nicklas Jensen notched the only goal of the first period, scoring at the 5-minute mark from Marek Hrivik and Ryan Graves

The Wolf Pack exploded for three goals in a 6:40 span to open the second period with Jayson Megna, Graves and Luke Adam all beating Sam Brittain to put the game out of reach.

Mike Matheson (4) scored Portland’s only goal at 14:42 of the frame unassisted.

Brittain finished the game with 27 saves and fell to 507 on the season. Magnus Hellberg stopped 30 shots for Hartford.

Portland (24-15-1) will return home to face the St. John’s IceCaps on Wednesday.
