Pirates edge Penguins 2-1 for sixth straight win
Portland opens busy weekend with yet another victory
Mike McKenna and the Portland Pirates (24-13-1) remained red-hot with a 2-1 win over the visiting, Atlantic Division-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night at Cross Insurance Arena.
McKenna made 38 saves to post his 13th straight victory, leading the Pirates to their sixth win in a row.
Portland did all of their offensive work in the first half of the first period.
Brett Olson (7) opened the scoring at the 1:57 mark with the assists going to Brent Regner and Garrett Wilson.
Wade Megan (5) bagged the eventual game-winner at 9:45. Megan's even-strength goal was unassisted.
Will O'Neill and Dominik Uher set up Clark Seymour early in the second period for the only Penguins goal.
Matt Murray took the loss for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, finishing with 27 stops.
The same two teams meet tonight in Portland.
