Sunday Caterwaul: First Round Open Forum

Saturday’s exciting action saw three teams take close games to go up 2-1 in their respective series, while Vegas welcomed back The Flower and edged Chicago and is now one win away from advancing to the next round.

Jaroslav Halak made 29 saves, and Charlie Coyle and Brad Marchand each had a goal and an assist in the Boston Bruins 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Halak got the start afte Tuukka Rask opted out of the remainder of the playoffs.

The Bruins lead the series two games to one.

Darcy Kuemper tied a career-high with 49 saves in the Arizona Coyotes 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Derek Stepan, Brad Richardson, Taylor Hall and former Florida Panthers draft choice Lawson Crouse scored for the Coyotes.

The Avalanche lead the series two games to one.

Brayden Point and Victor Hedman scored in the second period, and the Tampa Bay Lightning held off the Columbus Blue Jackets for a 3-2 win in Game 3. Andrei Vasilevskiy had to make just 15 saves, and Alex Killorn scored the other goal for Tampa Bay.

The Lightning lead the series two games to one.
