Team Matthews, which contained all four Maple Leafs skaters, won the $1 million prize by beating Team McDavid, which featured Florida Panthers Sergei Bobrovsky and Sam Reinhart, 7-4 in the 3-on-3 tournament final at the 2024 All-Star Game in Toronto.

Auston Matthews scored twice and assisted on another goal to spark his team to the victory and claimed MVP honors to the delight of the hometown crowd at Scotiabank Arena.

Bobrovsky was the winning goalie in Team McDavid’s 4-3 shootout win over Team MacKinnon that got his team to the final. He played the second half, stopping 8 of 10 shots and then denied Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon in the shootout as Team McDavid rallied in the final seconds to force the shootout.

In the final, Bobrovsky got the start and made 10 saves on 13 shots before giving way to Winnipeg Jets keeper Connor Hellebuyck after playing the first half. He robbed Mitch Marner with his blocker with time about to expire, causing the Leaf to playfully throw a glove at him in disgust.

As for Reinhart, well, he seemed happy to be there… He registered a shot and went +2 in the win over Team MacKinnon, but did miss wide on an open look in the second half. He had two shots on goal in the final, but rang one off the post after a great passing play left him with an empty net. Oh well, better to save them for the real games, I suppose.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday night when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at Amerant Bank Arena.
