Tuesday Recap: Florida Panthers at the IIHF World Championship, Day Five

Florida Panthers defender Brian Campbell went scoreless with four shots on goal while logging 17:47 minutes of ice time during Canada’s 7-1 win over Norway today in Stockholm. Campbell finished the game with a sterling +3 rating. The win moved Canada into second place in Group S behind Switzerland. Steven Stamkos scored a goal and added three assists to lead Canada’s offense. Taylor Hall scored twice while Claude Giroux and Matt Duchene each picked up a goal and an assist. Devan Dubnyk made 13 saves to post the easy win. Ken Andre Olimb tallied Norway’s only goal.

Nick Bjugstad and Team USA dropped a tough 5-3 decision to Russia today in Helsinki. The Panthers center logged 9:42 minutes of ice time, had no shots on goal, went 5/10 on draws and finished with a +1 rating. Bjugstad was on the ice for Matt Hunwick’s goal in the second period which gave the Americans a short-lived 3-2 lead. Alexei Tereshenko scored just over four minutes later to tie the score. Russia got third period goals from Yevgeni Medvedev and Alexander Radulov to raise their record to 3-0 in the tournament. Paul Stastny scored twice in the first period for the US while Russia’s Ilya Kovalchuk notched his fifth goal and added an assist. Ilya Bryzgalov picked up the win while Ben Bishop took the loss.
