Panthers trade Vinnie Hinostroza to Blackhawks for minor-leaguer Brad Morrison

The Florida Panthers have acquired forward Brad Morrison from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Vinnie Hinostroza.

Morrison, 24, has appeared in six games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League this season, producing three goals and five points. The 6-foot, 171-pound native of Prince George, British Columbia has also appeared in three ECHL games with the Indy Fuel this season, posting two points.

He is in the final year of his entry-level contract and will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights at the end of the season.

He has played 56 career AHL games (2018-19 to 2020-21), recording 25 points (13G/12A) and 20 career ECHL games (2019-20 to 2020-21), registering 21 points (7G/14A).

Originally selected by the New York Rangers in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Morrison played 334 career Western Hockey League games (2012-13 to 2017-18), amassing 112 goals and 262 points.

The Panthers signed Hinostroza to a one-year, $1 million deal during the offseason, but it wasn’t a fit. He appeared in just nine scoreless games with the Cats.
