Wednesday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

After returning from its Olympic hiatus last night with Buffalo’s 3-2 win over Carolina, the NHL has four more games on the tap tonight with four teams from the Atlantic Division in action. Boston is at Buffalo and Detroit will be in Montreal. In a pair of Western Conference tilts, Los Angeles will visit Colorado, while Vancouver will play host to St. Louis.

The Panthers remain off until tomorrow night when the Washington Capitals come calling. After doing battle with the Caps, the Cats have three games on the road (Blue Jackets, Islanders and Bruins) before the March 5 trade deadline, so we could have an eventful week ahead of us.

The Panthers have a handful of veteran players who could help contending teams, but they may want to re-sign a few of them for next season. It will be interesting to see what path Florida’s brass takes in regards to the deadline and playing out the reminder of the schedule. How they approach this time could give a glimpse into what to expect during the offseason.
