AHL: Bulldogs best road weary Rampage 3-1

As they near the end of a month-long road trip, it looks the San Antonio Rampage may be running out of gas. After dropping a tough 2-1 decision in Toronto on Saturday, the Rampage fell 3-1 to the Hamilton Bulldogs in a Sunday matinee at the FirstOntario Centre.

Martin St. Pierre scored the first of two goals on the day to open the scoring at the 7:25 mark of the first period.

The Rampage bounced back 8:06 into the second when Quinton Howden struck for a power-play goal. Ryan Martindale and Ryan Whitney combined to set up the score, which was Howden’s ninth of the season.

St. Pierre scored his second four minutes later to quickly give Hamilton the lead back.

The Rampage ended up firing 15 third period shots at Bulldogs netminder Dustin Tokarski, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Winger Mike Blunden completed the scoring at 6:29 of the final frame with Hamilton on a power play.

Tokarski finished the game with 32 saves. Jacob Markstrom made 28 stops in taking the loss.

San Antonio wraps up its ten-game Rodeo Road Trip Wednesday night against the Utica Comets. The Rampage have posted an impressive 6-2-0-1 record on the trek.
