Panthers prospect Chris Clapperton scores only goal in Oceanic’s 4-1 loss to Remparts

The Quebec Remparts scored three times in the first 13:27 to chase goaltender Phillipe Desrosiers en route to a 4-1 win over Rimouski. The victory gave the Remparts a two games to none lead in the QMJHL President’s Cup final with the series shifting to Quebec City for games three and four.

Adam Erne, Kurt Etchegary (shorthanded) and Matt Murphy did the damage in the opening frame, sending Desrosiers to the bench in favor of Louis-Philip Guindon.

After scoring the first goal, Erne picked up assists on the second and third. Arizona Coyotes prospect Anthony Duclair also drew two assists in the outburst.

Florida Panthers 2013 fifth-rounder Chris Clapperton scored Rimouski’s only goal, unassisted at 4:58 of the second period, to cut the deficit to 3-1. The tally was his tenth of the postseason. Clapperton finished the game with four shots on goal and a -2 rating

Duclair completed the scoring, from Etechgary and Raphael Maheux, at 15:38 of the period.

Quebec starter, and Canadiens prospect, Zachary Fucale stopped 40 shots in his second straight impressive performance of the series.

The third game of the final round will take place on Sunday at Colisee Pepsi.
