The 2015 IIHF World Championship continued on with six preliminary round games yesterday. Three of the tilts involved members of the Florida Panthers.
Finland 3, Slovakia 0: The Finns scored three times in the third period and Juuse Saros made 22 saves to blank Slovakia. Jussi Jokinen drew the secondary assist on Joonas Donski’s game-winning goal midway through the final frame. Jokinen finished the game with 2 shots on goal and a +1 rating in 17:23 TOI. The assist was his sixth point of the tournament. Aleksander Barkov registered one shot on net and finished with a +1 rating in 17:10 TOI. Barkov took a tripping minor in the third period. Tomas Kopecky returned to the Slovak lineup and played 13:13, finishing with no shots and an even rating. For more click here
Canada 4, France 3: Jordan Eberle‘s second goal of the game midway through the third period helped undefeated Canada stave off a huge upset bid from minnow France. Dallas’ Tyler Seguin also scored two goals. Florida defenseman Aaron Ekblad finished the game with one shot on goal and a -1 rating in 11:45. For more click here
Russia 7, Belarus 0: Sergei Bobrovsky stopped all 13 of the shots he faced and Russia got goals from seven different skaters to rout Belarus. Cats blue-liner Dmitry Kulikov logged 16:02 of ice time and finished the game with an even rating and no shots on goal. For more click here
