Florida Panthers forward Jussi Jokinen scored into an empty net with 2:14 remaining in Finland’s 5-1 win over Denmark in quarterfinal action from the IIHF World Championship in Russia.

Jokinen’s goal, his second of the tournament, put the Finns up 4-1 before Minnesota’s Mikael Granlund completed the scoring 21 seconds later with Danish goaltender Sebastian Dahm back in the net. It was Granlund’s second goal of the game.
Jokinen finished the tilt with two shots on goal and a +2 rating in 15:52. He was also on the ice for Patrik Laine’s goal late in the second period that put Finland up by a 3-1 count. The 33-year-old has 9 points in 8 games.
Aleksander Barkov missed the game due to illness. His spot between Jokinen and Laine was filled by Tappara’s Jani Lajunen.
Jarno Koskiranta scored the other goal for Finland, who will take on the winner of today’s Russia-Germany game on Saturday.

The U.S. upset the Czech Republic 2-1 in a shootout to advance to the semifinals. Auston Matthews scored the game-tying goal in the second period and then put up the only goal in the skills competition. Tomas Zohorna was the only Czech skater to beat New Jersey’s Keith Kinkaid.
