Florida Panthers’ Jonathan Huberdeau wins NHL Rookie of the Month honors

It is not often the Florida Panthers get league-wide notice so it was great to see that left wing Jonathan Huberdeau was named NHL Rookie of the Month for February.

Huberdeau scored a rookie-high six goals and added three assists in thirteen games to outshine Tampa Bay’s Cory Conacher, fellow Cat newbie Drew Shore and Antoine Roussel of the Dallas Stars.

Huberdeau’s two-goal, two-assist tour de force during a 5-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on February 21st, which tied a club rookie record for points, propelled him past the competition.

With Drew Shore notching five points in his last five games, could we see a Panther claim the award in March as well?
