The Florida Panthers have agreed to terms with restricted free agent defensemen MacKenzie Weegar and Ian McCoshen.

Weegar had an arbitration hearing scheduled for today, but the two sides agreed to a one-year, one-way deal deal worth $1.6 million this morning, according to CapFriendly.

The 25-year-old, who was taken in the seventh round (206th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, appeared in 64 games and scored a career-high four goals and 11 assists and finished the 2018-19 season with a -3 rating.

McCoshen, 23, appeared in 19 games with Florida, recording two points (1G/1A). The 6-foot-3, 217-pound native of Anaheim, CA, also played in 38 games with the Panthers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, producing nine assists

He has appeared in 60 career NHL regular season games since being selected in the second round (31st overall) in 2013, registering four goals and seven points.

His new deal is two-way and will pay him $700,00 at the NHL level in 2019-20.

Both players will be restricted free agents again next summer.
