Panthers’ Marcel Goc: Three Points In Adler Mannheim Win

Florida Panthers center Marcel Goc is heating up in Germany. After scoring a goal in a 3-1 loss to Kolner Haie on Friday, Goc had has best game for Adler Mannheim, scoring his third goal of the season and setting up two others in a 4-2 win over Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in Sunday afternoon action from the D.E.L. (German Elite League). Goc opened the scoring at the 1:21 mark of the first period, beating Grizzly goalie Sebastian Vogl from in close with the teams at even strength. Yanick Lehoux and Frank Mauer collected assists on the goal. The assist gave Lehoux a D.E.L. leading 18 points. Wolfsburg would even the score a few minutes later as former Eagle Nico Dimitrakos beat Adler’s Dennis Endras . In the second period, defenseman Doug Janick would put Adler back on top, with Goc and Yannic Seidenberg getting assists on the play. Vincenz Mayer would make the score 2-2 with an even strength goal at 15:29 of the second for Grizzly Adams. The game remained tied until Mike Glumac potted the game winner, his seventh goal of the season, with just 1:13 remaining in the contest, bringing the crowd of 8,770 in Mannheim to their feet. Marcel and his brother Nikolai Goc combined to set up the deciding goal. Adler’s Marcus Kink rounded out the scoring with an unassisted empty net goal to seal the victory for Mannheim with fifteen seconds left. Dennis Endras made 21 saves to post the win for Adler. Goc finished up the game with a +2 rating. The three points give Goc a total of 10 on the season in 9 games played. The win moved Adler Mannheim past Augsburger into second place in the D.E.L. standings.
