Monday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov set up two goals in the Atlantic Division’s 7-4 semifinal win over the Metropolitan Division at the 2018 NHL All-Star Game in Tampa.

Barkov had one shot on goal and finished with a +1 rating while logging 6:42 of ice time in the victory.

Things didn’t go so well in the final game as the Pacific Division, who beat the Central Division to get there, skated to a 5-2 win to claim the 3-on-3 tournament at Amalie Arena, with MVP honors going to Vancouver rookie Brock Boeser.

Barkov finished that game with a -3 rating while registering two shots on goal in 6:11 TOI.

With the festivities in Tampa over, the Panthers get back to business tomorrow night in Brooklyn versus the New York Islanders. The Cats are currently 12 points out of a playoff spot.

In AHL action this weekend, the Springfield Thunderbirds beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 5-3 on Friday and posted a 5-2 win over the Providence Bruins on Saturday.

Anthony Greco scored twice and Thomas Schemitsch, Greg Chase, and Mikkel Agaard added the other goals against the Sound Tigers. Evan Cowley made 33 saves to get the win.

Alexandre Grenier scored twice and Greco, Chase Balisy, and Bobby Farnham also lit the lamp against the P-Bruins. Cowley made 34 stops to post his fourth win of the season.
