Monday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Florida Panthers prospect Tyler Muszelik got the start and gave up just one goal in USA White’s 4-2 loss to Finland on Saturday at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Plymouth, MI.

After keeping the Finns off the board in the first period, Muszelik was beaten by New Jersey Devils prospect Lenni Hameenaho 8:44 into the middle frame after Hameenaho worked a quick passing play with Konast Helenius before finishing along the ice.

Muszelik gave way to Trey Augustine 43 seconds later. He stopped 12 of 13 shots faced. A solid showing for the 19-year-old, who will return to the University of New Hampshire in the fall.

In the other Saturday game from the Showcase, Sweden routed USA Blue by a 7-0 count. Today, USA Blue will play Finland at 4 p.m. while USA White will take on the Swedes at 7 p.m.
