Sunday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers on Pause Open Forum

James Dolan, the executive chairman of Madison Square Garden Company and owner of the NHL’s New York Rangers and NBA’s New York Knicks, has tested positive for the coronavirus. Dolan is the first owner of a U.S. major pro sports franchise known to have tested positive for COVID-19.

In addition to Dolan, the Colorado Avalanche announced on Saturday that a second player on the team has tested positive for the virus.

So far, the NHL has had four players test positive, two members of the Ottawa Senators and now two members of the Avalanche. Longtime Senators broadcaster Gord Wilson has also tested positive for COVID-19.

There are two more weekend signings to report and both were made by the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks signed forward Jack Badini to a two-year, entry-level contract. Badini played three seasons at Harvard and was selected by Anaheim in the third round (91st overall) of 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Hunter Drew signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the club. The 21-year-old defenseman , a sixth-round choice in 2018, has played 29 games for the club’s AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls this season.
