Monday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Former NHL goaltender Ray “Razor” Emery drowned while swimming in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, on Sunday. He was just 35-years-old.

Emery was an Ottawa Senators fourth-round draft pick (99th overall) in 2001. Over 11 NHL seasons, he played for the Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks. Emery helped the Senators reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2007 and won a Cup six years later with the Blackhawks in 2013 serving as a backup to starter Corey Crawford.

Condolences go out to Ray’s family, friends and fans around the world. You will be missed, Razor!

The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed forward Oliver Bjorkstrand to a three-year deal worth $7.5 million and RFA defenseman Ryan Murray accepted his qualifying offer. Murphy’s new contract is for one-year and is worth $2.825 million. (The Cannon)

Forwards Hudson Fasching, Laurent Dauphin and Michael Bunting signed one-year, two-way deals with the Arizona Coyotes. (Arizona Sports)

The Pittsburgh Penguins came to terms with forwards Teddy Blueger and Thomas DiPauli, and defenseman Ethan Prow. Pittsburgh also inked center Filip Hallander to an entry-level contract. (Pensburgh)
